Street party fun for all

An exciting street party is being organised to celebrate the official opening of the new Chalvey Community Centre on The Green on Saturday, September 3, by Slough Borough Council and the Chalvey Partnership.

Come and join in the fun!The fun will kick off from midday until 4pm with the majority of activities free for adults and children alike, except for the Zumba classes, which will be at a special price of £2.50 that day. The Mayor of Slough, Cllr Sukhjit Dhaliwal, will officially open the centre by cutting a ribbon and giving a speech.

MP Fiona Mactaggart will also be there for the opening.

There will be cheerleading demos, dancing, games, arts and crafts and much more. There will also be refreshments and party food available.

The new community centre has a café, meeting places for businesses and local community groups and hosts a variety of activities for everyone.

These include:

  • A job club.
  • Story time for families.
  • Community savings and loans advice.
  • Debating group.
  • Children’s music time.
  • PCSO coffee morning.
  • Community wardens support surgery.
  • A homework club.

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

Councillor Shafiq Chaudhry, commissioner for community and leisure, added: “Slough has worked hard to improve its libraries and to extend opening hours.

“This new centre is just one part of the Chalvey regeneration programme, along with the Early Years Centre relocation. Residents have told us they want to see these improvements in their neighbourhoods and we will work hard to deliver the facilities and services they need. We hope to see everyone there on September 3.”
